  62. You must install the original EZ-FORMS EXECUTIVE (EZFX) distribution disks via
  63. your floppy disk drive. Copies will not work. Also, do not install the non-
  64. network version of EZFX to a network. This will result in erratic and
  65. unpredictable operation. Contact EZX Publishing for details.

  67. ~70 To begin installation, place #1∙Distribution Disk in your A: drive. ~07
  68.  
  69. (You may use any other floppy drive of the right format. Substitute drive
  70.  letter as necessary.)

  72. At the DOS prompt, type:

  74.   A:INSTALL <enter>
  75.  
  76. You will be prompted for various installation choices, and for when to put in
  77. the appropriate distribution disks. Follow the instructions you will be shown,
  78. as well as the information in your manual.

  80. Once installation is complete, you may run EZFX by typing:

  84. You must be in the EZFX working directory you chose during the installation
  85. process.

  87. Fill out, sign and return the registration card to qualify for support.
  88. Floppy drive operation is not recommended. See the manual for details.

  90. The files on the distribution disks are compressed and encoded. So make
  91. sure you follow the installation instructions faithfully.

  97. UPGRADE NOTES (from previous versions of EZ-FORMS, EZ-FORMS LITE, EZ-FORMS GOLD,
  98.                Perfect Forms, SuperForms, EZ-FORMS PLUS, or EZ-FORMS EXECUTIVE)

  100. For pricing, run UPGRADES.EXE.

  102. EZFX 4.01f can read all previous .FRM and most .FOF files of any EZ-FORMS
  103. product. (Excludes encrypted files, must be decrypted first.)
  104. Math from EZ-Forms Plus and EZFX 2.x and 1.x will have to be re-entered.

  106. However, once the form is saved under the new EZFX 4.x format, it cannot be
  107. read by previous versions. It can be read, however, by EZ-FORMS DataBase
  108. Version 4.0 and greater.

  110. If you are upgrading from EZFX 2.x, the old EZFX.CNF file will no longer be
  111. valid. Therefore, you will have to re-install (or configure) for your printer
  112. drivers, maximum form size, colors, FOO mode, etc.

  278. The following details installation for the TestDrive-Valueware(tm) DISK ONLY

  280. EZ-FORMS EXECUTIVE is "LZH" compressed on the TestDrive distribution disk for
  281. space considerations. This allows us to give you the full on-line manual and
  282. help. Previous versions were not distributed in this way and as a result, all
  283. of the above mentioned information was not there.

  285. If you received this file as an archive, unarchive its contents into a
  286. directory called \EZFX-TD and simply run EZFX.EXE.
  287.  
  288. EZ-FORMS EXECUTIVE Ver. 4.0 and greater is designed to run on a hard drive
  289. ONLY. If you do not have a hard drive, consider EZ-FORMS PLUS (see EZXINFO).

  291. First, make the directory EZFX-TD on your hard drive. At the C:\prompt, type:

  453. - Added tab scheduling.  Maximum number of tab schedules is 65,536!  You can
  454.   now define exactly how tab and shift tab will work in completed forms.
  455. - Added user configurable "pick list" (a.k.a. multiple choice lookup).
  456.   Each form can now have up to 65,536 multiple choice items.
  457.   You can specify as many as you want for each area or field.
  458. - Added user configurable field help.
  459.   Each form can have up to 65,536 help fields each help with up to 10 lines.
  460.   Like tab scheduling and multiple choice, field help is stored in the form
  461.   so you never have to worry about keeping all the files together for forms.

  482. - When adding the adjustable screen blanker, it forced a change to the
  483.   EZFX.CNF file size for the extra option.  This means a user will have
  484.   to re-install their printer type and other info with v4.0.  Any previous
  485.   version EZFX.CNF file will be ignored.  The user will not get a warning.

  487.   ON DES ENCRYPTION: (data encryption standard)
  488. - DES encryption for forms is limited to USA and Canada.
  489.   This is a requirement of the USA National Security Agency
  490. - DES encryption is disabled in the Testdrive/shareware version.
  491. - The minimum key length is 5 characters.
  492. - The maximum key length is 40 characters.
  493. - A slightly different file format is used for forms which have been
  494.   encrypted.  EZFX will NOT read a previous version form with encryption.
  495. - Implemented DES in such a fashion that you will only know it is there
  496.   if it is actually part of the program.  If you encrypt a form with DES
  497.   and then try to decrypt it with the shareware version or non US/Canada
  498.   version, you will be given a message saying the form is encrypted using

  602. NOTE: Before attempting to use EZ-Forms Executive under any other program, first
  603. run it stand-alone.  Once you are confident that EZFX is functioning properly,
  604. then perform the same confidence tests in your normal environment.

  606. Windows and DESQview are multi-tasking environment programs. They allow many
  607. programs to be active at one time, and they even allow multiple instances of
  608. the same program. You could load EZFX several times, each with a different
  609. form. If you have more than one instance of EZFX using the same form,
  610. be very careful, since neither Windows or DESQview will manage any file
  611. contention that may result. The DOS Share command may help in this regard -
  612. refer to your DOS manual. You may also need the multi-user version of EZFX.

  614. The following text is not meant to teach you anything about Windows or
  615. DESQview. It is only to help you get the most from EZ-Forms Executive.

  620. Under Microsoft Windows, EZ-Forms Executive will run as a DOS application.
  621. EZFX has been extensively tested under Windows versions 2.11 and 3.0, in real,
  622. standard and protected modes.  An icon file (EZFX.ICO) and a Program
  623. Information File (EZFX.PIF) have been included with EZFX for your
  624. convenience. To install EZFX into a Windows Program Manager Program
  625. Group, follow these steps:
  626.  
  627. 1) Start Windows as you normally do, then activate the Program Manager.
  628.  
  629. 2) Activate the Program Group you want to contain EZFX, or create a new one.
  630.  
  631. 3) Select the File pulldown menu, then select the New command, then select a
  632. New Program Item.
  633.  
  634. 4) Enter "EZ-Forms Executive" as the Description.
  635.  
  636. 5) Enter the full pathname of EZFX.PIF for the Command Line.  For example,
  637. if you have installed EZFX to c:\EZFORMSX, enter "c:\EZFORMSX\EZFX.PIF".

  639. 6) Select the Change Icon button, then enter the full pathname of the
  640. EZFX.ICO file. eg. "C:\EZFORMSX\EZFX.ICO"

  642. 7) Select the OK buttons until done.

  644. 8) Select the EZ-Forms Executive icon.

  646. 9) EZFX should show up on the screen. Select a database and test a few of
  647. the functions.

  652. Under Quarterdeck's DESQview, EZ-Forms Executive will run like most other DOS
  653. applications. EZFX has been extensively tested under DESQview version 2.4,
  654. but other versions should work as well. A DESQview Program Information File (EX-
  655. PIF.DVP) has been included with EZFX for your convenience.  To install
  656. EZFX into the DESQview Open Window menu, follow these steps:
  657.  
  658. 1) Start DESQview (if not already running), press the DESQview key, then
  659. select Open Window, then Add a Program.
  660.  
  661. 2) In the Add a Program menu, type O to select the OTHER option.
  662.  
  663. 3) For the Add OTHER Program path, specify your EZ-Forms Executive directory.
  664. For example, if you have installed EZFX to c:\EZFORMSX, enter "c:\EZFORMSX".
  665.  
  666. 4) Move the cursor to the EZ-Forms Executive item on the left, select it by
  667. pressing the space bar key, then press Enter.
  668.  
  669. 5) Press Enter again to select Done.  The keys "EX" have been selected as the
  670. Open Window menu keys for EZFX.  If there is a conflict with an existing
  671. application, you can change this.

  673. 6) In DESQview, select Open Window, then select Change a Program, giving it
  674. the EZFX menu keys.

  676. 7) Use the Tab key to move to the Directory line, and enter your EZ-Forms
  677. DataBase directory name, as in step 3.  Also, note the Memory Size parameter.
  678. This has been set to 512K, but a larger amount may be usable, or a smaller
  679. amount may be needed.  Finally, press Enter to save.

  681. 8) Run EZ-Forms Executive from within DESQview and test until satisfied.
